It's not actually made with anti-freeze. Anti-freeze, or ethylene glycol, is a small, lipophilic molecule that is easily absorbed in the GI tract and once it gets to the blood stream it can cause sever toxicity and ultimately lead to death.
Polyethylene Glycol is a large polymer or chain of ethylene glycol that is not at all absorbed by the GI tract due to it's very large size. It is not metabolised by enzymes in the GI tract so there is no chance of the polymer breaking down and being absorbed. It does however cause the colon to contract violently and leads to a complete flushing of the colon from beginning to end, known as a bowel preparation or colon cleanse.
So, while it is similar to anti-freeze elementally, structurally and pharmacologically it is entirely different and perfectly safe to take when instructed to do so by a physician.
