There were no silver dollars made in 1916. Since you said, "With in God We Trvst" I believe you're thing of Peace dollars. These were not made in 1916.
liberty jn god we trvst
It's supposed to be like that.
Yes, all peace dollars spell trust with a Latin U which is a V making it Trvst. This is not an error but rather an artistic design, Standing Liberty Quarters also use this spelling.
It is known as a Peace Dollar, Trvst is the latinized spelling of Trust, it is not an error and doesn't make the coin be worth any more than usual. In average circulated condition, it is worth the value of silver which at the time of writing is about $23.
Your question could refer to two different coins. In 1925 all coins except the cent and nickel had a picture of Miss Liberty, but only two used the spelling TRVST. Check "What is the value of a 1925 US quarter?" and "What is the value of a 1925 US silver dollar?" for more information.Remember, "TRVST" is NOT a misspelling! During the 1920s it was common for artists to use Latin lettering on buildings, coins, and other things that were designed in the Classical style. Latin didn't have a letter U, so V was used as both a vowel and a consonant.
It's not an error, all PEACE dollars have the word "TRUST" spelled with a V because their is no U in the Latin alphabet.
If the misspelled word in question is TRVST, where the U looks like a V, it's supposed to be that way.
8-24-11>> The coin is NOT an Liberty silver dollar, it's a PEACE dollar (1921-1935) and all them have TRVST spelled like this. It's just part of the design.
Assuming the coin is circulated and has no mintmark, retail values are $38.00-$41.00, this date is the most common of all Peace dollars.
All Peace dollars (as well as Standing Liberty quarters) were lettered with the Latin alphabet rather than the English alphabet. "V" was both a vowel and a consonant. Please see the Related Questions for more information.
It's the word TRUST spelled with a 'V' because the Latin alphabet does not have a 'U' in it. All Peace dollars have this spelling and so do Standing Liberty Quarters.
The spelling "TRVST" is just part of the design and is on all Peace Dollars.
