2. Read--this includes your "competetion" (books that are similar to yours) and books on how to get published (I suggest "How NOT to write a novel" because the humour is amazing and the facts really drive home all the problems a novel shouldn't have)
3. A copy of the most current Writer's Market (best. publishing. book. ever. it lists pretty much every available publishing house and literary agent out there)
4. A strong query letter and a well written synopsis (if you don't know what I'm talking about, read one of those books on how to get published mentioned earlier)
5. Have hope and don't give up (if you do, you'll NEVER get published)
