My wifes old Cavelier (which is basically the same car) it was located in the trunk .... left rear end.

How do you put on a belt on a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire?
I am trying to change the belt on a 2.2 L, 96 Pontiac Sunfire. There is no adjustment on the alt. or power steering that I can see and I cant see how the tensioners work. Anyone have any ideas.

I haven't towed with a Sunfire, but would suspect that it might slow going. I'd keep an eye on the temp. gauge. According to Edmunds, the towing capacity of an 05 Sunfire is 1000 lbs. I'd certainly try to stay well under that ceiling. FriPilot
How do you replace the thermostat and where is it located on a Pontiac Sunfire?
To change the thermostat on a sunfire,look for the largest hose going into the water pump.Should be to the left as you look down at your fan.There should be a clamp holding the hose on. take a screwdriver and carefully pry out and clean out old glue and dirt with thinner or reducer and buy new one from dealer,remove adhesive backing paper and push in hole ,just like a sticker book.
