It's a short story, or maybe even a chapter of a book, about a young man who goes away for a summer to France (I think) and stays at a hotel (I think) and falls in love with an older woman who wears a lot of perfume and make up and he sees her as he would a movie star. He idolises her and near the end they sleep together. He then realises that sleeping with her made her normal, even desperate and it ends. A short tale of sexual awakening and disappointment in the adult world. Can anyone help? Thanks
