Amoxicillin (and other penicillin antibiotics) have been cleared of their anti-Birth Control effects. As it turns out, the research that made the claims are 20 years old, and flawed.

I lost a couple of the links, but the gist of it is: studies have shown that only a few specialized antibiotics effect the amount of BC in the bloodstream.
With that said, always use a second form of birth control, as diarrhea is a common side effect of Antibiotics and that CAN effect the pill. Plus, better safe then pregnant.
According to this paper that I found (after searching for ages!), using analgesics, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants have no statistically signficant correlation with IUD failure.

So no, using antibiotics shouldn't cause the IUD to lose its effectiveness.
Antibiotics can decrease the effectiveness of birth control. Talk with your doctor before they prescribes you any medicine to see how it will react with your birth control.
No, that is only with the pill. You are fine.
well dont know but you can call the NHS on 0845 4647 and ask them. and please if you can later write it down so everybody know. # thanks.
No. Amoxicillin will not interact poorly with the Mirena IUD. There are medications that should not be taken, so be sure to tell a doctor about the IUD before getting a prescription.
There are no known drug interactions between cephalexin and the IUD.
There are no known drug interactions between penicillin and the hormonal or copper IUD. Antibiotics do not affect IUDs.
Amoxicillin does not affect the contraceptive implant.
Penicillin does not affect birth control.
An expired hormonal IUD may not prevent pregnancy effectively. Other than that, an IUD past its life span does not affect the body.
There are no drug interactions between zinc lozenges or supplements and the IUD.
Ben Wah Balls will not affect the IUD.
Weight change will not affect the location of an IUD
The effects of smoking and drinking are the same with and without hte IUD.
There are no known drug interactions between phentermine and the IUD
does metronidazole affect the contraceptive injection? im on penicillin the same time aswell but my health clinic said penicillin doesnt affect the injection? is this right? :/
There are no birth control pills on the market in 2013 that contain hCG.
An IUD doesn't affect how long semen (or sperm) stays in the uterus. The copper IUD interferes with sperm mobility, lowering the odds of pregnancy. The progesterone IUD thickens the cervical mucus, making it difficult for the sperm to meet the egg.
A magnet will not affect the Mirena IUD.
He discovered Penicillin.
