Yes they do, Chase uses chexsystems and EWS. They also run a credit report.
But if your credit report is good and you only have one entry in Chexs they might override your EWS report. Alot of banks that run your credit, to see if you are responsible and alot of times it will override your negative chexs or EWS report.
This is the case with Bank of America also

Yes...and will deny taking or cashing any type of check if Chexsystem's gives negative information.
Are there banks that do not use the chexsystem or telecheck in new jersey or philadelphia?
Well I am in the ChexSystem unfortunately, I applied at TDBank recently, thought I was denied since they pulled me on the chex-system 1week later I got a letter to go to a TDBank location to activate account.: -) So yes they do use Chexsystem. Just Hope U got as lucky as I did, I made a vow not to mess this one up lol.
Chexsystem is a national database the banks use to track people who have had problems with their banks accounts and have had them closed. The reason for closure can be as extreme as bank fraud or it can be for bounced checks, unpaid fees or other reasons. Once you're in Chexsystems you stay for 5 years, even if you pay off what you owe.
