I am not sure if Cipro has penicillin in it or not, but I have been allergic to penicillin since I was little and then a few years ago found that I had the same reaction (hives) after taking Cipro...so I don't know, but that's my experience.
No. Ciprofloxacin is a different kind of molecule. It is a derivative of nalidixic acid, whose structure has been modified by substituting halogens such as fluorine and chlorine. People who are allergic to penicillin are NOT allergic to Cipro class antibiotics, and vice versa. (note: I am a pharmacist)
Ciprofloxacin is a member of a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones which also includes levofloxacin and ofloxacin. The penicillins are a separate distinct antibiotic class which includes medications like augmentin, oxacillin.
No.... Cipro , or Ceprofloxacine is a type of Antibiotics related to Fluroquinolone Group which kill bacteria by acting as metabolic enzyme inhibitor, it is used mainly for :
-Conjunctivitis ( related to eye disease ).
-urinary tract infection ( UTI )

No, Ciprofloxacin doesn't have penicillin in it. The two are different types of antibiotics. Many people are prescribed Cipro if they are allergic to penicillin.

No - Antibiotics such as Ciprofloxacin HCL are quinolones, and penicillin is a beta lactum antibiotic.

you can take amoxicillin (type of penicillin) for mild sinus infections. it is a narrow spectrum antibiotic. for more serious cases, use ciprofloxacin
Among the drugs used for antibiotic prophylaxis are amoxicillin (a type of penicillin) and fluoroquinolones such as ciprofloxacin (Cipro) and trovafloxacin (Trovan).
For animals, there is no cure. 99% cases of anthrax are caught too late. There is a vaccine, however, for livestock in areas where anthrax is prominent. It is a nonencapsulated spore vaccine that offers almost 100% protection after two weeks. But once an animal has got anthrax, often it is too late. In humans, there is a cure available, but mostly in the form of penicillins.
You do not use ciprofloxacin to treat the strep throat. Penicillin is better and economical.
Amoxicillin and ciprofloxacin has no relation to each other. Amoxicillin is beta lactum antibiotic. It is derivative of penicillin, which is synthesized by bacteria. While ciprofloxacin is fluroqunoline derivaive. It is man made antibacterial. It is NOT an antibiotic.
It is a bacteria and the infection can be treated with large doses of intravenous and oral antibiotics, such as ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, erythromycin, vancomycin or penicillin.
