The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

Another urban legend. Though most soft drinks have phosphoric acid in them, this is a relatively weak "organic acid" not to be confused with "inorganic acids" like the hydrochloric acid in the stomach. The greatest harm from soft drinks comes from their high concentration of high-fructose corn syrup used for sweetening, linked with an increased rate of obesity, especially in the 15-25 year old age group. Excessive use of any soft drink may eventually erode tooth enamel and cause tooth sensitivity, and the high phosphate level in soft drinks may cause nutritional problems.

Probably so. Coke will eat your teeth for sure so it most likely will irritate your stomach if not diluted with food. There is a test where you drop a penny into a glass of coke (or probably any soft drink) and it will eventually dissolve. One of the best things you can do for your health is to eliminate soft drinks from your diet. You can do this gradually by not finishing a can by 1/8, then 1/4/, then 1/3, then 1/2.... etc. When you get down to only taking a few sips... you really do not want a coke!! Amazing but it works. Do yourself a favor and get rids of the stuff for good.
