are dealers responsible for rental cars on a recall
There was a recall on the fuel injectors on the M30's due to leakage. Just take it to a dealer and they will replace the injectors for free. You'll even get a loaner car while they work on yours.
The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act
it is on recall---see recall list via web---dealer will do it for you
By "silent recall" I'll guess you mean factory authorized repairs. Those are done when a vehicle owner shows up at a dealership with a specific complaint. The dealer will have an authorized (usually free) fix recommended by the auto manufacturer. That information is available online. Go to Toyota's website and look for the FAR's for your vehicle. For recall information visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website and navigate to your car for a list of recalls. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/recallsearch.cfm. Cheers

If you want to check to see if you have a recall, call the dealer with your vin number and they will tell you.
Take it to a dealer and have them run the VIN #. They can tell you if the recall has be performed on your ride. If it has not, they will perform the recall.
Check the NHTSA web site. Many Aleros had turn signal problems caused by defective solder on the hazard light switch. Check with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration web site and your local dealer to see if yours is covered by recall with free repair if covered.
Recall information is always available on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. For the Y2k Solara there have been two recalls, both for exterior lighting issues. Both were instituted in 2006 so should have been taken care of long ago. If you're not sure, visit your Toyota dealer. The VIN number can be entered into the shop computer and all work done on the car (by a Toyota dealer) will be listed. Cheers
