Not at all, I gave blood for the first time last month (December). I saw a sign outside the doctors surgery and said to my boyfriend i would love to do that, so after work i went with my boyfriend to do it together. They hand you a folder when u arrive to fill in a questionaire and when u give it back your ready to give blood. I was just too scared at this point so i said i just cant do it because i was so scared it will hurt. I said to my boyfriend i am determined to this so the next day we went again, filled in a form, handed it in and by this point i thought there is no turning back now. I went in to have a drop if blood taken to see if i can take blood which only takes like 2 mins ( i would say that hurt more than the needle going in). Then i went to have a glass of water. They called me over and i laid on the bed, by this point i cudnt walk because i was too scared my legs just wont hold up. The man asked me to try and relax which i did. They stuck a blood pressure band around ur arm to help them see a vein. They then clean the area with a anticeptic wipe then put the needle in (seriously u don't feel a thing at all) and that's what i was worried about. I was pooping it over nothing.. soooo good luck to you i know u can do it! BE BRAVE. I've got my next appointment booked for 29th march and my blood group is A RH negative which is very rare which makes me want to do it more.
