Yes, that is one of the main benefits of them. Although, be aware that some of the concerns of using engine flushes is that they dislodge sludge from one place and before it can be dissolved, it gets lodged in another, possibly more important, location. Cars with normal use and maintenance may not experience as much issues, but in neglected engines there can be issues. Some recommend removing the oil pan afterwards.

Reason for sludge formation in diesel engine?

Engine sludge formation includes, lack of proper maintenance, inappropriate oil temperature, use of an inferior engine oil, and engine oil contamination. You can try flushing it out with an oil flush additive but often times this does more harm than good.

What is the best product to flush engine sludge from an engine?

Flushing sludge from your engine is not a very smart thing to do. Almost every automotive technician will agree with that. Flushing out an engine causes all the sludge to drain down into the oil pan. Which in turn tends to plug up the oil pick up and causes engine damage.

Your kia overheated now oil is brown can you flush it out?

Oil yes. Sludge from overheating maybe not. Might be able to run some engine oil flush through the oil system and see if it cleans it out. Don't drive the car with it in the engine and change the oil twice after you drain it all out to be sure you get all of the kerosene out. Otherwise, you will end up with a locked up, overheated engine.

Would an engine flush work to get the sludge out of an engine in a 1999 dodge durango?

yes it would work depending on how badly the sludge has built up. i would recommened you do the fulsh and then change your oil every 1500 to 2000 miles or 2 months which ever comes first. Keep doing that until the oil is clear after you add oil.

Does an L-2 Saturn need an engine flush?

No more so than any other engine. Other than break-in oil, my Saturn has never seen anything except synthetic oil. As such there is no possibility of paraffin (sludge) buildup inside the engine. If the engine does not have more than 50,000 miles on it I would consider changing to synthetic oil and don't worry about the flush. I wouldn't anyway. The simple fact is, it's a machine that the dealers have purchased and they want to see if they can get people to actually pay big bucks to use it. The value is marginal especially since the flush does nothing for the surfaces which may actually build engine sludge. For the most part, I agree with Redbeard. Synthetic is the way to go in the initial 50,000 miles anyway. I would never do an engine flush. Generally, the sludge that is freed up (from lack of maintenance) is dropped to the oil pan, which in turn is picked by the oil pump-stopping lubrication.

Can you still drive if you haven't removed old oil after using engine flush?

Not far, anyway. The engine flush is not engine oil ... its only purpose is to, hopefully, clean the inside of the engine areas. That's why it's called "Engine Flush" and not "Engine Oil". Get it out and put the new oil in soon.

How do you do an oil engine flush?

Add Engine Flush to the motor oil at running temperature before changing the oil. After adding the product, allow the engine to idle for approx. 10 minutes. Then change the oil and the filter. Engine Flush is compatible with all commercially available motor oils. We recommend cleaning the engine interior with Engine Flush before every oil change.

How do you fix noisy valve lifters on 1980 ford f150?

I am a ASE certified master technician with 30 years of professional auto repair experience. The first thing I would suggest regarding noisy lifters is to make sure the engine oil pressure is to spec, this can only be done with a oil pressure gauge screwed into the oil pressure sending unit passage. If the oil pressure is to spec hot and cold then it may be caused by sludge build up, if it is sludge there are some tricks of the trade to clean sludge but you would have to determine the extent of sludge build up before treating the problem, a engine flush could be dangerous to the life of the engine if the sludge is extreme as all of that sludge will end up in the pan and may plug the oil pick up screen causing loss of oil pressure, removing a valve cover is one way to determine if sludge is the issue.
