Quiet possibly, over a lifetime, a human eats a pound or so of insects without knowing. In undeveloped parts of the world, probably several pounds.
Insect have quite low density, so one pound of bugs would be a huge volume. I really don't think that's true.
Depends on what you eat and drink--for example, if you frequently drink watercress soup, you will drink in loads of insects, as a certain type of insect lives on watercress.
Without the tenant knowing? Certainly. Being sued often comes as a surprise. Without the landlord knowing? ... that would be more difficult, but it's possible that someone in the landlord's office initiated the suit based on standard policy without the landlord being personally aware of the details.
