Scoliosis affects a small percentage of the population, approximately 2 percent. However, scoliosis runs in families. If someone in a family has scoliosis, the likelihood of an incidence is much higher - approximately 20 percent. If anyone in your family has curvature of the spine, you should be examined for scoliosis.
There is no definite number known, however, to give you some idea 1% to 3% fo the USA population have idiopathic scoliosis, in minor forms. This is not the number that are required to have surgery

i had back surgery for scoliosis.
no but a spine is very rarely perfectly straight, and, like the person above, i had surgery to sort my scoliosis out, but i do still have a slight curve.
approximatly 1 in every 100 people have scoliosis (curvature of the spine) however only 1 in every 1000 worldwide has it severe enough to need some sort of treatment eg. brace or surgery
Not sure about percentage as a whole, but scoliosis is 10 times greater in females than males.

Scoliosis is really an opinion on if it is rare or common. I can answer that 2-3% of people HAVE curves of over 20*, i have scoliosis...so i find it pretty common that 2-3 percent have it...but i think that more people should know what it is.
people take care of scoliosis by excersing
If elderly people have scoliosis they wont die unless there scoliosis is 50 to 60 degrees or more then it might cause breathing problems.
Scoliosis, or curvature of the spine, occurs in about 3 percent of the population and is much more prevelant in girls than boys. Scoliosis can be detected at any childhood age and is not contagious.
If you have spina bifida, congenital deformation of the vertebrae, or muscular dystrophy, those conditions can lead to scoliosis. Over 80% of scoliosis cases are idiopathic though, which means that know one really knows why some people develop scoliosis. You're more likely to get idiopathic scoliosis if you have a familiar member with scoliosis.
If your scoliosis is mild then you should just do exercises aproved by a doctor for scoliosis. If it is severse then you should either wear a backbrace to keep it from getting worse or get surgery. Scoliosis can cause backpain. Try to keep a good posture to stop your pain!!
in adolescent scoliosis girls are 6 times more likely to get it than boys
Of course they can!
