The answer for this question is debatable. However, from my Christian teachings and recurring reflections on the subject, I have come to believe that anyone who fervently believes in the Trinity, repents for his previous sins and promises not to do them again, will find peace with God. It is common for man to have a proclivity to worship an entity, but there is only one entity you should be worshiping and in my opinion that is God. So to recapitulate, if you repent for your sins--in this case worshiping an idol, God will take you in as one of his own; however, don't make the same mistake twice. This is to say, don't play with God; don't continue worshiping idols after receiving forgiveness from God.
