No one who worships anything is doing so in the belief that the thing worshiped is an idol. Probably, every human being worships many things, things that others could easily point out are idols. Even what believers think is genuine worship of God may have many idolatrous aspects to it. So idol worship is part of being human. Is it good? It is probably neither good nor bad.
