Yes, most Homeowners Ins will pay for acts that you or your animals are Liable for. Most Compainies also include a damage to property to others coverage, in the amount of $500. This is a goodwill coverage that is supposed to keep you from being sued for liability coverage. Call your Agent or Company Customer service and ask them about those specific coverages. Good Luck.. If they wont be helpful, call your state insurance commissioner and ask them. That will motivate them without "wasting 25 to 40%" paying a lawyer for coverage you already paid for once!.

Maybe the vet bills and possibly the replacement cost of the dog. There won't be any compensation for emotional distress. A dog is a piece of property only and has not emotional value in the eyes of the law.
Added: Keep in mind that unless it's avaluable breeding show champion the deductible for your insurance could be less than the value of the dog.
