∙ 14y agoNew York City gets, on average, around 22 inches of snow a year. But -- generally speaking -- those 22 inches seem to usually come in blizzards, or mini-blizzards. It doesn't snow all that often in New York City, but when it DOES snow, more often than not there's a lot of it.
For example, this past winter it only snowed two or three times, but each time we got like, 8 to 12 inches of it. And if I remember correctly, last winter it didn't snow at all, except for a few flurries.
But the rest of New York State gets a pretty significant amount of snow, every year.
The snow can come anytime from November through March, but usually January and February are the prime snow months.
