Why can you not feel or taste acidic or alkaline substances?

You certainly can! Vinegar is a weak acid. You taste that quite distinctly! There is also a burning sensation to a strong acid. Base, or alkaline, substances are quite often slimy feeling. I would avoid extremes of either type.

What one is more acidic an orange or a pineapple?

it is acidic because it is in the acidic family. Actually, grapefruit are alkalizing fruits. They have a PRAL value of around - 6. Although they are citrus fruits and therefore acidic in their native form, when we EAT grapefruit, the pH of their "ash" when they have been metabolized by the body is alkaline. So grapefruits are great to eat because of the nutrition the offer, they taste great and they are alkalizing to our bodies, not acidifying.

Which pH values indicates a slightly acidic solution?

If the pH scale shows a colour between red and light green, then it is acidic. When the colour is light green, then it is neutral. When it shows colour between light green and dark blue, then it is basic. For numerical values:- 0-7:- Acidic 7:- Neutral 7-14:- basic

What does something acidic taste like?

Acidic = sour. Think lemons

What dose alkali feel like?

Things that are strongly alkaline tend to taste bitter. Most foods that humans consume, however, are either neutral or acidic so there are not many foods that humans regularly consume that are alkaline. (Milk has a pH of 8, but its mild alkalinity is mostly covered up by the presence of lactose. Apples, which taste mild, have a pH of 5.)

Is oyster sauce acidic?

It's either acidic or alkaline (because for some reason, it etches metal fairly well). Going by taste, I'd say it's more likely to be acidic.

The pH scale measures?

The pH scale isn't used for measuring anything. It tells if a substance is an acid or a base. On the pH scale, 7 or more is considered a base. lower than 7, on the pH scale is considered an acid. Acids are usually sour, sweet, or have a very sweet, bitter taste. Usually Bright colors. And Bases are mostly poisons. THey have a horrible bitter taste. Some can kill you if inhaled or consumed.

Why would you have a metallic taste in your mouth after a nearby strike of lightning?

The lightning bolt releases a huge number of ions into the air, and ozone. Positive ions can combine with your saliva to produce an alkaline solution, which you taste as bitter. Ozone also has a bitter taste and acrid smell.
