The greater palatine nerve block can be performed intraorally. The needle is inserted either through the palatal mucosa midway between the second and third molar or through the buccal mucosa posterior to the maxillary second molar. The injection site is usually located near the greater palatine foramen.
If the tooth in question was an upper molar than there is a chance you may have an oro-antral fistula, which is a puncture of the maxillary sinus membrane. Common complaints with this condition include being able to blow air into your mouth, foul taste extruding from the socket, and sinusitis. Best to get it checked out be your dental provider if you are concerned as there are treatment modalities available.

One would think there would be local government agencies that could assist with funds for having this done. Simple extractions usually run under $100 and are quick and easy. To remove this tooth yourself is inviting more problems - and possibly infection which can lead to abcess and more problems than you probably want to know about.
