Yes, some music helps you study like classical or some music tthat doesnt have alot of lyrics so you don't get destracted. it is easy for me to get destracted. that's why i don't really listen to music while im trying to read or do math problems. but when it comes to grammer or history than i can listen to music because im better in those classes than the rest so i don't have to concentrate quite as hard as the other ones.

I believe that it totally depends on the person and other factors. I always used to listen to quiet, instrumental background music when I studied in the past. It helped relax me and keep me focused.
