The answer to this question is very simple. Yes you will test positive for cocaine if you have recently had Novocaine. So be sure to get a note from your doctor saying that he administered Novocaine. When your body metabolizes novacaine the same compounds are left as those of cocaine. Novacaine and cocaine are in the same family. I failed a drug test due to Novocaine so I am telling you from a first hand experience. I cannot stress enough get a letter from your dentist that you received Novocaine.

I guess I am going to find out..got to do my monthly UA and had two teeth pulled yesterday..I have a paper from the dentist to be sure..awhile back had a false pos for meth..I knew I was clean but on cold meds..they sent it off for more testing and came back neg for meth..so when you know you are clean do what you can to prove you are..I am glad I did because false positives do happen

Since cocaine is metabolized into a different compound than novacaine, and drug tests test for the metabolite of illegal substances, then in my opinion novacaine will not produce a cocaine positive test. On poppy seeds: A heavy amount of opiate containing poppy seeds may produce a heroin positive test, but poppy seeds won't do anything for a cocaine positive. Any one that says poppy seeds produce a cocaine positive test has done WAY too much cocaine.

they don't test for Novocaine. it is a local anesthetic.

It just might- it depends on the type of test. Novocaine is a derivative of cocaine and could show up on simple tests.
