Acrisius recieves a prophecy saying he will be killed by Danaë's son, and does everything he can to prevent it. He locks Danaë up to prevent her from meeting anyone who could get her pregnant, and when, despite this, Danaë births her son Perseus, he throws the two of them into a chest and sends them to sea. Danaë and Perseus survive, and go on to live their lives, and Acrisius, not knowing of Perseus's survival, goes on with his, thinking he has avoided his fate, until he hears a great hero is returning to Argos, and discovers it is Perseus. He runs away, and lives his life in fear into old age, until one day, Perseus is competing in the discus throwing event in the Olympics, and a sudden gust of wind blows his discus of course, and who should it hit but Acrisius. Acrisius lived a long and mostly happy life, but was killed, as the prophecy stated, by Danaë's son. The myth says that fate is unavoidable, but not always as bad as it seems, and even if there is a prophecy that says that someone is going to kill you or whatever, you can still live a long and happy life.
