The pressure drives the preservative through all of the wood. Once in use, over many years, sun and rain (or water) will leach out the preservative from the outside in.

What do you use to remove dirt and grime from brick and concret?

Dirt and grime from brick and concrete can be cleaned up quickly with just water and the correct pressure washing technique. All you need is a pressure washer, good water supply and a pressure washer surface cleaner from bestcargurus. A pressure washer surface attachment gets cleaning jobs done up to 4X faster than the usual spray nozzles. The splash-free skirt keeps you dry while you clean and you won’t experience any streaking problems due to its ability to keep nozzles at a fixed height from the surface.

What prevents mercury in the tube of a barometer from running out into the container at the bottom of the tube?

The top of a barometric tube is sealed leaving no place for air to escape. It works along the same principle as a drinking straw, but in reverse. In a drinking straw, the sucking motion reduces the pressure of the air inside the straw to a lower level than the air outside the straw. Liquid resists changes in volume due to pressure and is drawn up through the tube due to the air pressure exerted on the surface of the liquid outside the straw. In a barometric tube the tube is sealed at one end, trapping a finite amount of gas in the tube. The air pressure inside and outside the tube is equal, keeping the mercury suspended at a certain level. If the pressure outside is raised, more force is exerted on the surface of the mercury outside the tube than on the surface inside. This raises the level of the mercury in the tube until the pressure of the air is equalized -- there is still just as much air in the tube, but a smaller volume at a greater pressure.

Why do weather balloons expand as they rise through the troposphere?

The ballon contains a fixed amount of gas producing internal pressure. At the surface, this pressure equals the surface atmospheric pressure. As the balloon rises, the atmospheric pressure drops, allowing the balloon to expand, keeping the internal pressure and external pressure equal. If the balloon is fully inflated at the surface it will burst at higher altitude.

Does dark skin and not just dark colors attract more light and cause warmth?

Dark and light surface's gain heat through the absorption of radiation. Light that would normally bounce for a light colored surface, say yellow, is absorbed by a darker color, say purple. The extra energy that is absorbed by the darker surface causes an increased temperature when compared to one another. Skin as the surface has no bearing on the process.

What are the features of Pressure treated fence vs cedar fence?

surprisingly pressure treated fencing is more expensive than cedar, depending on style. if it is a picket style fence I would avoid pt because it is adversley affected by wheather and warping and splitting. Cedar will be more uniform, and look better, and if treated after installation it will last just as long.

Can sound waves travel through wind?

Interesting question... Answer: Yes. A Sound wave is just the propagation of a pressure wave. Just as a ripple can travel on the surface of a river, so can sound travel through wind. It will be subject to the Doppler effect (the change in pitch due to relative motion of observer and source) and also to the turbulence of the wind.

What happens throughout a liquid and not just at the surface?

Diffusion occurs throughout the solution and not just at the surface. Just the opposite of this is the activity of enzymes. Dropping colored dye in water will diffuse evenly through the solution.

When does man exert greater pressure on the floor while standing or walking?

tiptoesWhen standing on tiptoe, the force exerted by your body remains the same, but is now concentrated in a smaller area. Pressure is measured in force divided by area. By reducing the area, you increase the pressure.

What is the transmission fluid pressure on a TH400 as it goes to and from the radiator?

Should be no pressure, the ATF is just pumped through the cooler back to the transmission.

The force per unit area applied on the surface of an object?

The molecules in a gas are moving in all directions and they constantly crash into the surface and bounce back. This is just like when you throw a tennis ball against a wall and it bounces back: the wall changes the momentum of the ball by changing its velocity, meaning the wall exerted a force on the ball and, by Newton's laws, the ball exerted an equal and opposite force back on the wall (just the wall is so massive it doesn't show it). With air molecules this happens many many times, so this collectively exerts a pressure (which is just a force per unit area) on whatever surface is in contact with the gas. This pressure just depends on the temperature of the gas and how compact it is (its volume).
