My answer: My dog has been on all different forms of propalin (chewables, pill and syrup) for many years and it is the ONLY thing that works for her to prevent accidents. Propalin (also known as phenolpropanalomine) is given by prescription only, so I would advise your vet should determine whether it's a viable alternative for your pet, not Answer.com . Note: The syrup version is generally not available in the US, however I used it while overseas and it was the most effective way to prevent accidents, presumably because my dog injested all of it rather than spitting out pieces of the pills.
