White meat is healthier that red meat because white meats such as turkey and chicken have less saturated fat and cholesterol. The biggest concern with consuming too much red meat is the cholesterol level. Although, white meats are easier to digest, have less calories, and less fat; they are generally a more healthy choice.
According to the Dietary Reference Intake guidelines, an adult should get about 20-35% of their daily calories from fat. However, be sure that these are healthier fat sources, as opposed to trans fat. Eat red meat in moderation, as there is more saturated fat in red meat than poultry.
A lot of seafood contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which are thought to be beneficial in the body against cancer, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases. Seafood does contain fat, but it is a different kind of fat than that of red meat. Red meat is an excellent source of protein and iron. Lean red meats have less fat than poorer cuts. A balanced died should contain both lean red meat and seafood.
