No S-video has a luminance channel and a chrominance channel that when coombined in a monitor produces a colr picture. Assuming the original madia was in color of course. No sound link is on the S-video channel.

Does the S-video cord replace the red white and yellow cord?

S-Video cords, do exactly what the name implies - transfers video ONLY. So the S-Video cord will replace the yellow cord. The red and white cables/cords are used for sound and will have to be connected separately. So to sum it up, S-Video only replaces video.

I want to connect my computer audio and video to my sound system. The audio is pretty easy. The video would connecting the S-Video on the copmputer to the yellow RCA type video connector. Do you have a cable and.or cable and adapters that will do this ?

S-Video to RCA jacks cost around 13 dollars. If you prefer you can use a video switch,a little box used to switch between video sources. You just put the S-video in one of the inputs and the RCA jacks in the output, select the right button and you're good to go.

I can't get my sound up since switching to converter box.?

Some video outputs on a converter box have sound included and some don't. coax - video plus sound s-video - video only composite (yellow single plug) - video only component (red, green, blue plugs) - video only hdmi - video plus sound so if you are now using one of the video only outputs from your converter box to the TV, you also have to use a separate sound output to go either to your TV or stereo. Here are some options stereo rca (1 white and 1 red plug) - 2 channel stereo sound digital rca (1 orange) - multi channel sound, up to 7.1 and higher depending on the source optical (1 squarish plug with a flap over it to keep dust out) - same as digital rca but has no loss over the cable.
