One way to tell if a woman likes you more than a friend is by paying attention to how she acts around you. Does she laugh a lot when she talks to you? Does she look directly in your eyes? Does you find excuses to touch you? If she does these things, she may like you more than a friend.

Yes it is hard and she may not want to hurt your feelings. When I asked my girlfriend if we are "boyfriend and girlfriend" she answered "Yes, we are boyfriend and girlfriend, but only platonically." which is fine for now. These things take time.

Of course for my girlfriend this is much easier to say than it might be for yours. She is from a different country, culture, and her first language is not English. In her language they have completely different words and ideas about "only friends", "platonic boyfriend/girlfriend", and "boyfriend/girlfriend" than we have here in the U.S. and we were using her language not English to get the concepts clear. So she and I are more than "only friends" but not necessarily yet what most Americans consider "boyfriend and girlfriend".
