Yes, and even though not all of Puerto Rico is subject to routine heavy rains it does get hit by hurricanes and tropical storms which can, in a matter of a single day produce great loss of soil due to mudslides. When such slides happen, large ground areas are left exposed without a cover crop and the problem is exacerbated.
The state soil of Puerto Rico is Bayamon.
soil erosion mostly occur in hilly areas, coastal areas etc.
soil erosion occurs when the surface of the soil is being washed away by erosion agents such as wind, rain, flood etc.

I think it is because when trees are removed from rainforest's, when it rains the mud from the soil runs into the water and causes soil erosion.
When soil is washed away by water and wind,it's called soil erosion. It usually happens at hills with not many trees. If there are many trees, the roots will hold the soil firmly so there will be a lesser chance of soil erosion to occur.
When rainfall and runoff displace soil particles from inadequately protected surfaces.when there has been a lot of rainWhen environmental agents begin to wash away the soil, that is when soil erosion occurs. This can be due to wind, water, or other factors.
