It can, especially if the color used to spray on is not a very good or natural looking one. Different salons will have different spray pigments and shades that they use. A good way to judge could be by someone who you know has gone there / gotten a spray than there alrady. Make sure, if you do get the tan, that you do things to keep it even so it doesn't look blothcy, and beware of clothing or lines that may appear.

Also unlike the machine, airbrushing is more browning unlike the machines or self tanners. It usually can last two weeks if taken care of by moisterizing and washing with lotion/soap that has no sulfates - so always check your ingrediants.
