Most cultures agree that suicide usually doesn't solve a lot of problems for the victim. If you don't believe in an afterlife -- ZOT! It's over. No nothing ergo no solution. If you do believe in an afterlife, most cultures indicate that suicide is a pretty bad solution. In Christianity and Islam, most sects believe it's a sin, with consequence. In Hinduism, there's a karmic burden applied to suicides in most beliefs, that means you get to repeat the same thing again. And so on...

In some cases, it may be seen to solve problems, but every culture indicates that this irrevocable step is not to be taken lightly, and only considered after extended study and planning.
