You have a Horn Relay in power distribution box.
Remove horn relay, connect jumper from terminal 85 to ground, connect one end of second jumper from terminal 86, connect one lead of a ohmmeter to terminal 30 and other lead of ohmmeter to terminal 87-should be resistance, now connect loose end of jumper from terminal 86to battery +, should now read zero ohms on meter...relay should also "click" oterwise it is bad.
Another thing that goes bad is the "horn blow switch", it usually reads like 5 ohms approx.
The horn relay is located in the fuse box of the 1996 Lumina. The fuse box is located under the hood of the car.
its in the engine compartment fuse box, unscrew the top, and on the inside of the fuse box is a diagram of which fuses are where. my horn fuse is in the top left.
on the drivers side, look where the pedals come into the car, that is where the location of the 1 fuse box is that has the horn fuse in it
under the hood
Check the fuse!
check you fuse and grounding on horn.
fuse gone: check fuse box, if not wire loose at horn, or at switch button
Check the horn fuse first, followed by the horn relay. If both of these are ok then the horn button or the horn are bad.
To fix the horn on your 1996 Volvo 960, first check the fuse related to the horn in the fuse box, as a blown fuse is a common issue. If the fuse is fine, inspect the horn itself and the wiring for any damage or corrosion. You can test the horn by connecting it directly to the battery; if it doesn’t sound, it may need replacement. Lastly, ensure the horn button in the steering wheel is functioning properly, as a malfunction there can also prevent the horn from working.
It could be the horn relay, a defective fuse or a shorted wiring. Need to check the wiring first, then the fuse and lastly the horn relay.
In the front fuse Box near the Air filter
The horn fuse on a 1996 Mazda Miata is located in the fuse box under the dashboard on the driver's side. To access it, you'll need to remove the cover of the fuse box, which is typically found near the steering column. The specific fuse for the horn is usually labeled, and you can identify it by checking the fuse diagram on the cover or in the owner's manual. If the horn isn't working, it's a good idea to check this fuse for any signs of damage or a blown fuse.
