no it does not. I have a 99 elantra. It only has the warning sound for leaving the key in and opening the door. I have forgotten my lights on several times because of it.
To reset the EMS on a Hyundai Elantra, disconnect the battery. Leave it disconnected for 10 minutes and then reconnect the cables.
Leave it in OD all the time. The computer will figure it out for you.
To disable a 2002 Hyundai Elantra alarm system, put the key in the ignition. Turn the key halfway ensuring the car does not start. Leave the key in this position for 10 minutes before starting the car.
If your car alarm goes off on your Hyundai Elantra and the engine won't start, disconnect the battery. Leave it disconnected for several minutes.
As a fellow Hyundai owner (victim), don't even try. Leave the keys in the car and hope someone steals it.
Your owners manual has instructions on how to turn each of these sounds on and off (user preference).
- Open the box underneath the dash left side and remove the fuse - 11/13/09: I am experiencing this problem now. I called a Hyundai Dealership Service Dept and they said to put key in ignition, turn it to the on position, wait one minute, then turn to off position and pull key out and this should resolve the problem. I have yet to test it, but will when I leave work. but at least this is something to try. !! - 12/10/09: Did the above and it worked on my 2006 Elantra.
Your headlights may not dim because you don't have dimmer lights. Dimmer lights can blow and leave you with just the high beams.

depending on you battery usually between 2-4 hours if you leave your headlights on. My Car battery was completly dead after almost 4 when i wrote my exam.
You have to go to the dealer and ask them to turn them off, otherwise they leave them on as running headlights. They will do this for free.
