They drug test you on your assessment day prior to employment within the Defence Force, you do not have to consent to the test as you are not an employee just yet but this will obviously terminate your application process.

The Army has a strict policy on drug use, no use is authorized unless you have a prescription from a doctor. The Army conducts random drug tests and if an individual is suspected of drug use then the Army has the right to request a drug test be administered.
Once in reception, at Basic, you will be tested again, and then periodically throughout your career.
