I'm not sure what you meen by this. Any limit set by bt will be for your internet connection (be it speed or download limit, although I'm guessing you meant speed). Stuff you do on the private network has nothing to do with the internet, so the speed will depend only on the router (normaly around 100mb/s). Please make this question clearer, give a bit more information.

What is tunneling protocal?

Tunneling, also known as "port forwarding," is the transmission of data intended for use only within a private, usually corporate network through a public network in such a way that the routing node in the public network are unaware that the transmission is part of a private network. Tunneling is generally done by encapsulating the private network data and protocol information within the public network transmission units so that the private network protocol information appears to the public network as data. Tunneling allows the use of the Internet, which is a public network, to convey data on behalf of a private network.

What determines the speed of broadband internet, and can I boost my speed w/o changing services?

There are many factors impacting broadband speed, only some of which you have control over. Network speed, modem speed, and internet traffic all work together to produce the broadband speed. Purchasing a faster modem and a faster network speed would be the easiest way to improve speed without changing services.

What is mobile broadband?

think of mobile broadband as mobile internet it comes on a usb stick that plugs into your computer it comes in prepaid were you have to go to a shop or newsagent to get credit that lasts for a certent amount of time and comes in different amounts of download limit to download files off the internet, non prepaid is the exact same except you don`t have to go to the shops or newsagent you can buy different mobile broadband usb sticks that have different speeds you also have to choose your provider such as telstra, vodafone, optus or blink the usb sticks price ranges from about $70.00-$199.00 the usb sticks with the faster speeds will cost more and the data may cost more as well mobile broadband can sometimes only be used in the country you buy the usb stick in and sometimes it can be used all around the world ask your provider the only bad thing about it is you can`t network with mobile broadband so you can`t file share or printer share over your network, router or gateway. Most mobile broadband uses the 3G network but there is growing availability of 4G mobile broadband which deliverds faster speeds.
