Change CHT sensor=Cylinder Heat Termo switch
Yes it does have a cold start sensor. It is located on top of a throttle body.
The cold start sensor is the top sensor on the right side of the thermostat housing as you are looking at the engine from the front of the vehicle. It is 22mm.
Need to replace the coolant sensor. Not the tempture sensor.
I think it's the Crank Angle Sensor. I thought it was the fuel pump so I replaced it on Thursday and then on the way home today the car just stopped running and wouldn't start and the RAA man said he's pretty sure it's the Crank Angle Sensor. If the car stalls pour cold water over the Crank Angle Sensor and the car should start with no problems. I'm going to go get a scan on my laser tomorrow to confirm the problem and get a price on the sensor.....
The ECT sensor is usually the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. Most modern cars have such a sensor to advise the ECM/PCM about the operating temperature of the engine. Ford also uses a Cylinder Head Temperature sensor to detect overheating condition in the case of lost coolant..... The ETC, via the PCM, also controls the cold-start quantity of fuel required (given a specific temperature);.. in other words, it acts like a choke operation in cold weather!... I f malfubctioning, can cause prolonged cranking before engine start in cold weather.
The 1999 Ford Transit cold start wiring diagram can be obtained from most Ford dealerships. The wiring diagram can be found in most Ford repair manuals.
The sensor can be checked for resistance with an ohm meter. The sensor can be checked while cold then hot for resistance change.
The first thing to check is the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Failing spark plugs/ wires are a common cause for a poor cold start condition. There may be a problem with the coolant temperature sensor. Have the sensor checked and the vehicle scanned, but don't over look the basics.
pickup speedometer does not register from a cold start. Shifting lurches and then all evens out after about 30 mph

bad cooling sensor or bad connection at cooling sensor.
