It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church.

.

Now, I am not sure what you are asking, bottom line, there are two types of Catholics:

1) sincere, believing, practicing Catholics - they believe the faith, and they are sincere in trying to be perfect. The Good Lord only put us on this earth for one thing: to become a saint and go to heaven to be happy with Him for eternity. This time on earth is VERY short, a sincere Catholic realizes this, and realizes that he is only here for one purpose and that is to become a saint and do whatever God is calling him to do.

2) The other type of Catholic, which, unfortunately, seems to be the bulk of them, is a Catholic in name only. They probably grew up Catholic, but may have converted. They see Catholicism as their "denomination of choice" and it is (maybe) what they do on (some) Sundays. This type of Catholic hasn't got a clue what Christianity is about, and we all need to be praying for them, talking to them, and doing our best for them. 99% of Catholics fall into this category. They *might* have been to confession last Lent, they receive Holy Communion every time they show up at Church. They receive Holy Communion without going to confession, without making a preparation, without fasting, and without staying in Church to make an Act of Thanksgiving. Please remember them in your prayers!
