you may need to check your main fuse that should be by your battery or in your main fusebox
could be a alt not charging or a loose wire on the alt or a bad ground
Check the fuse under the dash that's labeled SP Alt. It supplies voltage to the alternator, so it can produce power. On my 98 it's a 7.5amp
try checking the mega fuse if it is a ford,or for chevy, the inline fuse found by the alt and lastly the inline fuse on the fire wall for a mopar you may have a bad battery or it needs charging before you can use it unusual but happens could have been on the shelf too long
Not charging (bad alt) or it has a draw. Something is drawing power which can be anything that takes electricity or the plates in batt are worn out. test it for voltage, then check alt, if alt light not on, search test vehicle elec for current draw to see procedure.
It's the 100 amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box by the battery.
Could be a warning that the alt. is not charging. So, if you do not want to end up with a dead battery somewhere, have the volts checked right from the battery.
the only way to turn off the charging light is to fix the problem causing the light to be on most likely the alt is bad, could be battery but unlikely that would set light. you may can atke hammer and tap the alt to get it working agin, but it will need to be replaced. that light is telling you the system isn't charging the battery
Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alternator belt. If the battery and alt test ok than check the connections to the alt. You may also have a battery drain (something that is staying on and killing the battery)
Kills alternator? don't you mean kills battery? Installing a new alternator without first charging the battery well (2amp for 8hrs) will quite likely burn up a new alternator as well as being hard on the battery.
if its not charging make sure all your connection are plugged, simple way too test your alt. is start the car remove the pos+ive terminal and see if it still runs if not bad alt. and you will need it replaced. This procedure is not recommended. It can damage a good alternator.
If there is a spark at the battery when you are reconnecting it after charging that means there is a short in the electrical system somewhere. This could be bad enough to drain the battery in a few days. Finding the short may be difficult but it can be narrowed down by pulling one fuse at a time and seeing if the battery still sparks, and then inspecting the system that the fuse indicates.
