No where in The Bible is the Birth Day of Christ revealed.

God knew that men would start worshiping the day instead of the Man, just as we see today. People become 'Christians' on the 25 of December, thinking they can pretend God.

The origin of this date traces back to the Church of Roman. Most of the Greek gods' birthdays are on the 25 December.

Same with the day of worship, Sunday. No where in the Bible does it say that the day of worship has been moved from Saturday (Sabbath) to Sunday (Day of the sun).

Correction of the above (which is factually incorrect)

The Bible does, in fact, give us man clues as to the time of Christ's birth; Luke places it firmly in history by using other date markers, and by examining details of the shepherds, and Christ's life, one can get some idea of when he was born. (see below).

The date Dec 25 probably comes from the pagan Roman new year festivals as the birth of Christ took precedence after pagan celebrations were Christianised at the adoption of Christianity by the Roman Empire.

Also, there is no real evidence that any Greek god also had a 'birthday' on Dec 25th.

As for the day of worship, this has nothing to do with the 'sun' (for example, in French, Sunday is 'Dimanche' - again nothing to do with the sun) as stated above. Sunday is the day of worship because it is the first day of the week. This was traditionally the day of worship for Christians because they commemorate the resurrection of Jesus on the first day of the week (Mark 16:2). The practice of worhipping on the first day of the week dated from the early church who met on this day to break bread together (ie have Holy Communion). This is recorded in Acts 20:7 among other places in the Bible.

Additional Information:

As stated above, the Bible never mentions the celebration of Jesus' birth.

*December in Israel is the rainy season, and shepherds, though sometimes grazing their sheep close to home, would NOT have been 'living out' in the fields at night during that time of year(Luke 2:8) It also is not reasonable to think that Caesar would ask people to travel long distances to be registered during the cold rainy weather (Luke 2:1-5).

*Also, Jesus started his ministry when he was 30 years old(Luke 3:23)

He died on March 31, 33 (Nisan 14 of the Jewish calendar).

His ministry lasted '3 and a half years', so he would have been about '33 and a half' years old when he died, causing many to feel that he was probably born around early October.

*In addition, John the Baptizer, who was six months older than Jesus(Luke 1:26-38) was born sometime in late March, if we look at the time period when his father was a priest and received the message from God about conceiving his son John (1 Chronicles 24:7-10 compare: Luke 1:5, 8-25) The eighth division of priests (Abijah) would take place in the fourth Jewish month, or late June on our calendar, so John would be conceived in late June, and born in late March. Six months later, Jesus was born...Late September/early October.

History points out that December 25th was chosen by the Church of Rome in the 4th century, to be the official date of Jesus' birth, because this date was already well known in pagan Rome as having been dedicated to the Sun god, and it was still well known, even then. The ancient Romans celebrated the rise of the sun in the winter sky by feasting, partying, and the exchanging of gifts.

No, it does not. And contrary to the belief of many Christians, there is no evidence that Jesus was born on December 25th. This was a popular pagan holiday, celebrated by the Romans as the Saturnalia (the birthday of the Sun). Later, Christians took up this holiday and transformed it into the birthday of the Son. But most historians and scholars believe Jesus was probably born in August or September. And while there are some Christians who do not observe December 25th as the birth of Jesus, most Christians have accepted this custom and Christmas has become a major holiday.

Though, as has been mentioned, the Bible never mentions Jesus' birth date, clues are provided scripturally in the form of historical markers. Because of these, many feel that Jesus was probably born in the month of Ethanim (September-October)on the Jewish calender, in the year 2 BCE. We know, for instance, that he was born six months after the birth of John the Baptizer, when Caesar Augustus was ruling(31 BCE-14 CE), during the governorship of the Syrian, Quirinius , and toward the end of the rulership of Herod the Great in Judea.(Matthew 2:1+13, 20-22; Luke 1:24-31+36; Luke 2:1+2+7). Also, considering that the 'shepherds were out in the fields at night, watching their flocks, at the time of Jesus' birth, demonstrates that it could not have taken place in the winter season, which, in Israel, is the rainy season(Luke 2:8+12 /Ezra 10:9+13).

Although the exact time of year of Jesus' birth is unknown ("about 33 years old...."), it is traditionally believed to be either on the Day of Atonement or Feast of Trumpets.

It was not a recognized or celebrated day in the time of Jesus. Yet, clues from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke indicate that the season could not have been Winter as most scholars would agree today. Many have thought that the timeframe was mid-Septeber to mid-October of the year 5-4 BC.

A:The Bible does not tell us the date of Jesus' birth. 25th December is simply the birthday of the sun god, and not necessarily the birthday of Jesus.

However, Luke's Gospel provides some possible clues. Uta Ranke-Heinemann (Putting Away Childish Things) says that if the story of the census is historically true, the Romans would never have called a census during a religious festival, since the Jews would have gone to Jerusalem for their observance, ignoring the Roman dictates. She also says that December is unlikely, since the roads would have been waterlogged and impassable during the winter months.

For Matthew's Gospel, the birday of Jesus could have fallen at any time, since there was no census in this story and his parents already lived in Bethlehem, which was their home town.
