Generally butterflies are solitary creatures. They also may travel in small groups. However, some species migrate in massive numbers. One species is the monarch butterfly that migrates thousands of miles each year.

Cute question! :) You are refering to the term Social Butterfly, right? The term is compaired to a butterfly because butterflys like to flutter from one flower to the other which in the long-run helps to polinate them. They compare this to a person who is good at" fluttering" from one person to the other. I guess you could say it helps people, I'm not sure how to compare being polinated to it though :) lol Again, love the question, it made me smile.

For most of their lives Monarch Butterflies are solitary but when they migrate, they are very social, gathering in the thousands at varying spots in California and Mexico.
