The simplest way I can explain this is when we take a breath oxygen enters our lungs and is delivered in the bloodstream. The heart pumps blood through arteries that circulate this oxygenated blood to the capillaries found in all tissues. Then veins return deoxygenated blood (where carbon dioxide is found) to the lungs to be exhaled.
