Our modern understanding of light and color begins with Isaac Newton (1642-1726) and a series of experiments that he publishes in 1672. He is the first to understand the rainbow - he refracts white light with a prism, resolving it into its component colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet.
Light is electromagnetic energy that travels in waves and has frequencies both visible and invisible to the human eye. The visible light range is known as the ultraviolet (UV) spectrum. To the naked eye, UV light appears white, but it is actually made up of several different wavelengths of color. These colors are arranged in order from shortest to longest and blend from one to the next, like a rainbow. The order of the wavelengths are violet, blue and green, yellow, orange and red -- which means violet has the shortest wavelength; and red, the longest

A variety of sunset colors is evidence for a variety of elements in the Sun. apparent atmospheric thickness. atmospheric particles. atmospheric temperatures.
There are many factors that influence the colors of a sunset. The Earth's atmosphere and traveling light are the two key factors. The atmosphere contains many particles of dust and water, and light reflects off of the particles in all directions. The size of the particles and light wavelengths influence the colors we see in the sunset.
Because the atmosphere bends the light.

That's backwards - the weather affects sunset colours not the other way around. The more air (colder, thicker, higher pressure, damper) the redder the sunset
