Yes, the Format Painter copies the format of the text (e.g. font style, size, bold, etc.) but not the actual text.

To use the Format Painter, highlight the formatted text that you want to mock. Then click the Format Painter icon and highlight the text that you want to format like the previous text.

The format painter is for formatting only. To copy text you use editing right click copy or CTRL + C
