It works very well given that you use the proper toilet paper, proper means no perfumes, and very tightly wound, when tp filters where created a roll of tp weighted about 230 grams, today the average rolls has like 300 sheets and weights under 80 grams those rolls clearly do not work. scott 1000 is a good choice, or buy from frantz. They are good bypass filters not full flow, that means a small portion of oil goes through the filter at a slow rate therefore keeping the oil really clean, it is not intended to replace the full flow oil filter. You still need to use a good quality full flow. extra benefits are that if you have a blown head gasket and water leaks in the oil, you would immediately know when replacing the filter.
Under no reason you should use one as a full flow filter it is not the intended purpose, only as a bypass. they claim they can clean the oil down to 1 micron, who knows exactly but having clean oil is always a good thing.
The method in which they work is very simple, oil flow is restricted with a restrictor usually 1/16 of an inch, the oil flows between the sheets of the paper and the oil flow it is being cleaned and then returned to the engine. Since they are bypass filters they do not have a valve to open when the filter is dirty, it simply clogs and no further cleaning, but it will not damage the engine. As a full flow I would not recommend them. frantz, motorguard, a few other companies have made them, fratz is still in production.
