You can purchase Apple Numbers, Pages and Keynote for the iPad separately. These three applications make up the iWork suite for OS X.
Special versions of the iWorks applications (Keynote, Pages and Numbers) have been created for the iPad. They will be available from the online App Store for $9.99 each when the iPad is launched but are not included with the iPad. (See links below)
One can download iWork from the Apple App Store. The latest version was released in 2009. However, Apple did release iWork for the iPad in 2010 as three separate applications.
Mac OS X has PDF capabilities built in so any application running on a Mac, including iWorks, can save as a PDF from the Print dialogue box.
This is possible, but ... it is not legal. For each mac you get 1 copy of iWork
The word processing/page layout component of iWorks is called Pages. (See links below)
iWorks can read most .cwk files but you should still be able to run AppleWorks (Version 6.2.9) with Rosetta on the new MacBook Pro (See links below).
The iPad mini and the iPad 4.
The original iPad, just know as the iPad was first, then came the iPad 2. The latest model is known as New iPad. (not iPad 3 or iPad HD or ????).
