The most common wireless routers are Linksys, NetGear, and 2wire, just to give you a hint at what most people are using as wireless routers these days i find that 2wire works the best and linksys doesnt work at all for my iPod touch.
yes, i have been having troubles with this too and i didn't have a wireless router for my ipod touch so i couldn't get Internet so i went to office depot or a store like that and got one for 40.00 and now i have Internet on my ipod touch!
