Yup - to use a lower grade will result in extremely poor performance, lowered gas mileage and higher repair bills in the long run. Just suck it up and pay the difference, we're only talking about $1.40 more per tankful on the average. Spread out over a 350 mile range, that's less than 1 cent per mile difference in cost. BTW, a Jetta with the turbocharged 1.8 faces the same issues ... .
My answer is YES! if you do not use premium fuel you will see a decrease in fuel milaege, lack of power, and carbon build up. I work at a vw dealership, and I've seen more than once where people come in complaining about their engines acting up. well it turns out that they had carbon buildup and they did NOT use premium fuel. I own a jetta myself and I would not use anything but premium. hope this helps

Most require the use of Premium high octane fuel. What your Ferrari requires is listed in your owners manual.
Depends on which Model/Year Matrix you own. Some require the use of premium fuel and some do not. It yours requires the use of premium fuel then by all means use it. If yours only recommends regular then using premium fuel will provide no benefit whatsoever and is a total waste of money. Your owners manual will tell you exactly what to use.
YES, Factory and Owners Manual say to use it.
Any grade is fine. It doesn't require premium or mid grade.
