Yes, when they hunt in packs killer whales can take down even the largest whale. Except a Bull Sperm whale which is too dangerous to attack even in packs.

A Killer Whale what kind of animal is it?

It is sad to say but Humans can kill Orca (Killer Whale) Another Killer Whale could kill a killer whale. Orca (Killer whales) are Apex Predators which means they are really not hunted for food by others in the sea. A Blue whale can kill an Orca (Killer Whale) with just one strike of it's tail. A Sperm Whale could also kill an Orca if it was being attacked either with it's teeth or its tail. Some would say the Great White Shark, There is much evidence to prove (Including video) that killer Whales can kill a Great White Shark, it could depend on if the Killer Whale is a young one or not. There is a National Geographic issue which has a photograph of a killer whale pod literally ripping a huge chunk blubber/flesh out of the front side of a grey whale while the whale is still alive & swimming. It is shocking but amazing. I believe the point was that it was the first photo that proved that killer whales would attack a massive whale.

Is a killer whale a dolphin or a whale?

A killer whale despite its name is a dolphin. The killer whale is in the family delphinidae a group of oceanic dolphins. You may be wondering why then do we call it a killer whale? The answer is simply because researchers and whalers saw the dolphin killing whales, that is why we call them killer whales because they kill-whales :)

Is a killer whale really a whale or a dolphin?

It is a mammal, a member of the dolphin family. The killer whale's scientific name is 'Orcinus Orca', And it is actually the largest of the dolphin family. It got its name Killer Whale, which was shortened from Killer OF whales, as they sometimes kill other dolphins, and whales. They are NOT a porpoise, whale or fish (although the name porpoise is sometimes applied to them).

Are killer whales the only whales that kill other whales?

no

Can a dolphin kill a whale?

First of all, a Killer Whale is a dolphin. But if you question was rephrased to something like, "Could a Killer Whale out swim any other member of it's species?" then it would be valid.Anyway, it depends on which type of dolphin is trying to out swim the Killer Whale. The Common dolphin is the fastest, and thus could out swim a Killer Whale. When it comes to smaller types of dolphin, they are about evenly matched.
