In the state of Florida, they absolutely can. Suicidal Ideation, attempts, text messaging, any of it can be used to do an involuntary 72 hour Baker Act, I'm not familiar with other states laws, or if Baker Act is federal or not.
Don't! Call the police about your bully or talk to someone about it but don't commit suicide! Imagine what you might grow up to do if you don't. Imagine how it will affect the lives of the people who love you. Don't commit suicide!
Contact and inform a responsible adult like a parent, teacher or the police without delay.
Yes, you should do something. The first step would be to contact a trusted and reliable adult, counsellor or friend. If the person is in immediate danger of death, contact the Police immediately through your country's emergency number.Likewise, if you witness a suicide, telephone the Police through the National Emergency Number (111, 911, 000, 999, etc).
If you mean in terms of occupations, probably members of the armed forces, police officers, and perhaps truck drivers. Truck driving is a field where a number of military vets get involved because war made them more isolated from others. Driving a truck is mostly a solitary job, and it allows someone to feel in control while they are on the road. Of course, living situations and disabilities are also a factor. Those estranged from their families are more likely to consider suicide than those in loving relationships. LGBT persons are more likely to commit suicide than heterosexuals. Divorced people are more likely to commit suicide than single people and happily married couples. Those who become disabled later in life may be more likely to commit suicide than either those disabled very early in life (excluding certain mental conditions) and those who suffer no disabilities. IQ can be a factor to a point. Those who are right below the normal range are probably more likely to commit suicide than those in the normal range and those who are profoundly mentally challenged. Things are perhaps the hardest on those who have cognitive disabilities and are fully aware they have them.
In most states if police are aware of it, yes 72 hours minimal
tell someone or the police, or you can talk to the parent. act fast before its too late.

Suicide isn't against the law when one has bad grammer. That's a loophole in Washington's lawbook.
Someone does not "accidentally" stab themselves. After you are taken to the hospital the police will question you to find out if this was an attempted suicide or an attack. I would suggest you not do this.
If they had to come, they would probably take the suicidal person to a mental hospital for evaluation.
If you become aware or suspect that someone intends to commit suicide, then you have an obligation to report that to a responsible person. Depending upon the context of your relationship, that may be a parent, teacher, nurse, doctor or even the police if necessary.
They would take you to an emergency room or crisis center for evaluation.
The police, paramedics and social workers are notified when try to commit suicide.
If someone commits suicide, there is little anyone can do, let alone the police.Additional: If the questioner meant ATTEMPTED suicide - the police do not "punish" anyone. However, (in the US) in most (all?) states the police do possess the power to exercise an emergency commitment petition/order and have someone who has attempted to do harm to themselves or others involuntarily committed to a hospital or mental insltitutuion for a certain period of time (set by law) so that they may undergo mental evaluation and treatment.
No, some of them get shot by the Police, but I havn't heard of any surviving after a mass shooting.
