2 din mate
Yes it can you just have to buy a vehicle specific adapter. This will also work going from a double din stock stereo to a single din aftermarket stereo
if you are trying to replace the head unit at the front of the car you simply need two stereo removal pins that you can buy from halfords or shops as such or you can make your own out of a wire coat hanger, they look like this http://www.deals-on-ice.co.UK/shop/imagesset%20of%2010.jpg, push them into the holes at each side of the stereo and pull, then you should be able to fit an after sales stereo, remember a ford escort is not a standard size hole, normal stereos are 1DIN and the fordescort is a 1.5DIN you will need to also buy a blanking plate. any questions hit me: genius_noob@hotmail.com /Adam
Answer for 1999 Civic LXI have a 199*9* Civic LX, so your results may differ slightly, but here's how I did it. - Remove the glove compartment. Two screws under that hold it in place. - Remove the screws that hold the panel below the steering wheel (where the fuse cover and change tray are), but you don't have to completely remove this. This is necessary to get access to the screws for the next panel. - Remove the screws that hold the panel below the radio (where the cigarette lighter outlet is), and remove that panel. - You can unplug/unscrew the lighter to disconnect the wires from that panel. - Look up at the radio, through where the panel was. You'll see four Phillips screws holding a big bracket in place. Remove those screws.- Using a slotted screwdriver, and a lot of care, pry out (toward the back of the car and up slightly) the whole black assembly containing the radio, climate controls, vents, and hazard button. - It will only come out about six inches before the wires stop it. Reach around behind the radio and climate controls to unplug them. Each plug has a little tab on one side. Push and hold that in to unplug. You shouldn't need any tools. - Four screws, two on each side, hold the radio to the bracket. Remove those and take the radio out.Good luck. Hope this helps.Answer for 1998 Civic LX 4 DoorI also have a 1998 Honda Civic LX (4 Door, 5spd Manual). I just purchased a 1DIN radio to replace my factory radio.
